Deleting your account and exporting your data
Step-by-step guide
Export your transcripts first
Deletion is permanent, so export anything you want to keep before you start. Open each video and use the Export button to download it as TXT, PDF or SRT, or use ZIP export to download multiple transcripts at once. Once your account is deleted these are gone, so make sure you have local copies of anything important.
Cancel any paid subscription
If you are on a paid plan, cancel your subscription before deleting your account so you are not billed again. You can cancel from your billing settings; your paid features remain until the end of the period you have already paid for. See the billing articles for details.
Delete your account
Go to Settings and open the account/danger-zone section, then choose to delete your account. You will be asked to confirm, because this cannot be undone. Deleting your account removes your profile and the data associated with it — your transcripts, folders, notes and share links — and signs you out.
What deletion removes
Account deletion removes your YT Transcriber data: your account record, your transcripts and their metadata, your folders, notes, and any share links you created (which immediately stop working). Your authentication record with Clerk and any payment history retained by Stripe for legal/accounting reasons are handled by those providers under their own policies.
